Susan Kroah Giblin

Born in Harrisburg, Susan Kroah Giblin was a graduate of CD East High School, Harrisburg Area Community College, and Wilson College. She held degrees both as a Paralegal and as a Certified Veterinary Technician, a degree that she obtained after going back to school at the age of 35. She was employed as a technician at the Boiling Springs Animal Hospital.

As one of Central PA's greatest friends to cast-off and wayward animals, Susan was a 17 year volunteer at the Helen O. Krause Animal Foundation, and served as its medical coordinator for nearly a decade.
Susan maintained a fostering room in her home which was rarely empty, and she was well-known for her compassion, empathy, and personal connection with both patients and their owners. She was a very vocal proponent of how complementary therapies (homeopathy, acupunture, etc.) can expand and enhance the animal caregiving experience, which is a central part of the Foundation's mission.

On December 2nd, 2009, Susan was diagnosed with Leukemia, and passed away 8 weeks later. She left behind a rich legacy of service to the animal community, and a broad network of friends and loved ones, as was evidenced by the "standing room only" attendance at her funeral, and the sold out benefit concert that was held in her name in February 2010. This overhwhelming outpouring of love and appreciation from both friends, clients, and near-strangers was what inspired the formation of the Susan Giblin foundation for Animal Wellness and Welfare.

Please help us to continue Susan's selfless and tireless work by supporting the foundation and its programs.

Thank You,
